Sph Gas Response to Barred Perturbations
We present the results of a series of SPH simulations, in which we follow the response of a gaseous disk to an imposed barred potential. The shock morphology depends on the assumed potential. Their longevity and their thinness, however, depend on features of the interstellar medium, such as the sound speed and the viscosity. Our calculations underline the importance of gas recycling.
